Alejandro, Lady Gaga

This is a drawing I entered for the contest Gagaloo Love, the theme was to interpret the meaning of Lady Gaga's music video Alejandro in a drawing or painting.

About the Artwork
- The debate between homosexuality and religion has been a discussion for some time now, and the question is, Does God condemn gays? or is homosexuality a sin?

The Music Video Alejandro by Lady Gaga is about gays and homosexuality, and how the suffer to be accepted into religion and the church.

For some churches, such as the epicospal church, this topic has cuased partition among them and even the community. Meanwhile, the Vatican's stance on gays is clear: "Homosexuality is a sin and gay marriage attempts to pit human rights against family and against man." Even the Bible states that being with a man, being a man yourself is considered an abomination.

I chose the Cologne Cathedral, because it was built as a dedication to the Virgin Mary, as well as others. But in the music video Alejandro, Lady Gaga is dressed as the Virgin Mary. And well, also because it is a beautiful architectural monument. Also because it is Gothic and the Music Video is kind of Gothic and dark itself.

In the top right corner we can see a priest that does not seem to care about the gays, since he's ignoring them; and that is how today in society and the church, gays are not accepted, because the priests think it is a bad decision.

Next to Gaga in the middle, we have a half man and half beast human that is trying to seduce or kiss another man. In the Bible as I stated earlier, this is considered an abomination, to be with a man being a man yourself. Something abominable is a beast or am monster, that's why I chose to draw one of the men like that.

In the lower right corner, we see Gaga holding a Rosary because she is suppossed to be The Virgin Mary that is praying for all the gays. And we also see a man with fishnets, reminded us of their feminine behavior.
